This case study documents the sustainable Rooibos harvesting in the Caderberg mountains of South Africa. It presents the world’s first industry-wide benefitsharing agreement under the Nagoya Protocol, and represents a milestone in recognising Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) and rights under South Africa’s Biodiversity Act and international law.
