Motions before the IUCN Congress

In the run up to the IUCN Congress, the African Wildlife Economy Institute (AWEI) and the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation (CIC)  published a briefing paper which reviewed all of the Motions submitted for consideration to the IUCN Congress and indicated whether or not, based on the expert judgement of the authors, each motion was likely to supportive of sustainable use, not supportive of sustainable use, or neutral with respect to sustainable use. The brief was intended to help IUCN Members understand the implications of each Motion in order to make informed voting decisions. When initially published the brief included  logos of a number of organisations as collaborators, including SULi.  The use of SULi’s logo was in no way intended to influence Members to vote in a specific way, the brief being intended to provide technical information. Nevertheless, the SULi logo has now been removed and this statement is intended to make clear that the brief and contents within it remain the views of the authors only, and of AWEI and CIC and should not be interpreted as a SULi position. We hope this clarifies the status of this paper and wish everyone an enjoyable and productive time at the World Conservation Congress.
